Meet Designer Siena Marek

What inspired you to become a designer?

Growing up, I was always drawn to design. From product packaging to architecture, I found joy in thoughtfully crafted objects that enhance our everyday lives. The possibility of creating beautiful, impactful and meaningful experiences is what ultimately inspired me to pursue design.

What’s your go-to activity for relaxation or fun?

I love looking up at the stars on a clear night — it brings me peace and perspective. For fun, I enjoy tennis, skiing when the season permits, and language learning.

What’s your favorite part of the creative process?

I really enjoy the initial brainstorming and concept development stages. It’s exciting to watch abstract thoughts take shape and evolve into tangible designs that tell a story and solve a problem.

Where do you usually find inspiration for your ideas and designs?

Usually, my curiosity about different cultures and their aesthetics is a key source of inspiration for my work. I’m particularly drawn to how design reflects the values and traditions of a culture, often finding inspiration in cultural objects — especially from Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics. As for my ideas — they often seem to brew at the bottom of my coffee mug.

What excites you most about joining the MB team?

As someone with a background in brand strategy and design, I’m excited about joining a collaborative environment where creativity and strategy hold equal importance. Good design is informed by strong strategy, and I’m looking forward to contributing to projects where both come together to create meaningful, impactful results.

What are you excited about accomplishing in 2025?

I’m excited to refine my skills and contribute to impactful branding projects at MB while continuing to expand the breadth of my work. I also look forward to exploring new opportunities for growth and creative challenges, both personally and professionally.

How do you stay current with trends while maintaining originality?

I often delve into design publications, while staying attuned to emerging trends and cultural shifts through everyday observation. While I draw inspiration from these sources, I always ensure my work reflects my unique perspective and creativity.

What’s a surprising fact about you we might not know?

I can speak and write Japanese, a skill I developed through years of study and a deep appreciation for the language and culture!
